Got a call from "Jeff Johnson" who explained that I can get free internet.
In addition I could make cell phone calls for 99c a minute, all local calls would be free etc. The person told me that this is the first time that Telecom offers such a special deal. I only had to prove that I am a New Zealand resident and give him my passport number. But I told him that I wouldn't give him my passport number because I didn't believe him.
In my opinion this is scam. Anybody with similar experiences?
Call from Brian who was difficult to understand due to his strong Indian accent. He told me that as from next month my phone bill would be reduced by 30%-40%. I asked if he was from Telecom and, due to his accent I thought that he had stated that he was. He went on a great length to tell me of the savings on home and international calls. He had full details of may adress and name and I assumed it was indeed one of Telecom's promotions. He then asked me for my driver's licence number or some other form of identification. I refused this and aske him again If he represented Telecom. He went though "same as Telecom" "Spirit Telco" "provider" etc. I then told him I would check out his site and if interested would get back to him. He did not seem happy about this at all and stated that he was in the sales department and the website contact could not offer the special deals that he could. He then stated that he would call me back and I again told him that I would get in touch if interested. This guy went on and on and was really trying to push a sale.
