Got a call from an elderly woman praising my “divine tuna noodle casserole” and how it “put Sandra’s dry disaster to shame.” I’ve never made a casserole. Called back to clarify, but they just cackled and said, “Keep cookin’, hotshot,” before hanging up.

Picked up a call meant for “Greg’s Exotic Bird Emporium.” Told the guy he had the wrong number, but he insisted on describing a parrot with a Brooklyn accent that recites movie quotes. We debated if a bird saying “Forget about it” was endearing or terrifying. Hung up 20 minutes later after the bird started reciting the Bible , oddly fulfilled.
