Rang pretending to be IRD, left a message from kenneth matthews saying urgent dont disregard etc and to ring back imedately, I then rang IRD as no ird no stated, turns out it is a common call recently and a complete scam,

Person named Kenneth Matthews phoned and left 2 voice mails. One on Tuesday 14th and again Saturday 18th.
He asked for us to call him urgently as they have a claim against us for tax aversion and fraud and IRD are about to file legal action against us.
What made us question his legitimacy is that he didn't address his claim to any specific person in our household and the number to call back doesn't work. I have also received numerous call from similar number (last eight are consistent) all hours of day and night and messages not left.

Obvious SCAM msgs left on phone. Threatening arrest re tax fraud and demanding 'you or your retained lawyer' phone back immediately. Gave name Kenneth Matthews.

calling and leaving a recorded message with a threatening statement
left on my answer phone. Claiming to be from the IRD and saying you are under investigation for Tax evasion and fraud and you must return the call or face charges.

I have had this same recorded message left on my voice mail 5 times in last two days - doesn't state who in the house hold the message is for plus we all pay our tax etc with nothing to hide - Suspected it was a scam looks like I was correct, now how to make the phone calls stop?

Person named Kenneth Matthews phoned us today and left a voicemail. He claimed we have unpaid taxes and will need a lawyer as we are going to be investigated. What made us question his legitimacy is that he didn't address his claim to any specific person in our household (there are more than 1) and also we usually receive IRD letters in the post. SCAMMER!?!?

Same as Christchurch recipient. Person with asian/pakistan voice claims to be from Inland revenue wgtn, asking for us to call him urgently as they have a claim against us for unpaid tax, avoidance etc. and IRD are about to file legal action against us.
