Eliminate Spam Calls reported Nest Edge AI Bot with the number 092424892 as Telemarketer
Apparently, the anti-spam law (the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007) does not apply to voice phone calls, meaning it does not make AI cold calls or robocalls illegal under that specific act.
This is what AI says to Do If You Get Spam AI Calls
- Hang up immediately: Do not speak or argue with the bot; scammers often record your voice to try and clone it later.
- Block the number: Use your phone’s built-in software to block future contact.
- Report the business: If it is a persistent New Zealand business breaking fair trading laws, report them directly to the Commerce Commission.
- Report a scam: If the AI call was an attempted financial scam, report it to Netsafe NZ or the police. -

Despite the AI intro, they are a genuine business aimed at helping kiwis. The AI is there to essentially check if they have a homeowner so they aren't wasting people's time and to stop the typical abuse often handed out to cold callers.
